Keeping it Real
Canine Capitalism
There’s this little thing I have to give vent to. Which is surprising because I haven’t blogged in ten years. So, this better be pretty darn profound. Sorry, not going to happen. In fact, it’s distinctly un-profound: there’s actually a thing out there called “BarkBox.”
It’s a monthly subscription for a box of goodies delivered to your doorstep – just for your doggy. It’s like a piece of Pooch Paradise. The doggies in the commercial looked super happy. Incredibly, they all had this uncanny sense that the box was not just some random Amazon delivery for mom or dad. It was their very own doggone box!! Canine capitalism gone wild.

Here’s what their website says: “BarkBox is the monthly necessity for keeping your pup entertained and feeling well loved.” There’s even an option for a “pupgrade,” just in case your furry friend got the feeling you weren’t invested enough in his well being.I watched the commercial on the same day I read a blog post about appreciating what we have in the first world: a fridge full of food, clean water, access to free education. Heart warming, puts-things-in-perspective stuff. And then there’s the BarkBox. Because you know your doggy deserves it.
