Keeping it Real
Advent Devotional 2023
It has been several years since I wrote my last Advent devotional. I remember writing that Bible plan as a challenge to myself. Could I keep the focus on Christ and manage to write 25 devotionals for Christmas? It was one of those God-sized goals—but it wasn’t to show the world that I had “nailed” it. By the grace of God, those devotionals were simply about God pouring into me and me pouring out from the reservoir that He had filled.
I called that devotional “Making Space” because as a young mom with little muchkins in tow, the cry of my heart was that I would make room for Christ during Christmas. You can find that devotional on YouVersion by clicking here.
Just last week, I felt the tug again in my spirit to write another Advent devotional. Maybe it’s because I’m in a different season of life. (I’m definitely not a young mom anymore.) Or maybe it was more than just an age thing.
I had enough excuses to ignore the nudge to write. My husband is traveling on work thousands of miles away. I’ve taken on a new part-time job which is slightly overwhelming. I’m off on a girls’ trip in a few hours (Okay, to be more exact, it’s a middle-aged women’s trip, but those are just minor details). So the “reasons” to postpone writing the devotional were plenty and somewhat valid.
But God urged me this morning to stretch myself for Him. And He promised that He would supply what I lacked.
So here’s my second Advent devotional. I’m calling it: ‘Waiting Here For You’
I don’t have it on YouVersion this year, as I was a bit late to the game. But I believe I’m perfectly on time with God’s timetable for when this should be “launched.”
It’s a 21-day devotional that will dive into Advent hope, peace, joy, and love from the first Sunday in December to Christmas Eve.
So join me in Waiting Here For You: A 21-Day Advent Journey
I pray it’s a blessing to you as you draw nearer to Him this Christmas season.

PS: I just realized my devotional is titled the same as Louis Giglio’s Advent devo. Oops. One of those honest, subconscious mistakes that comes with middle-aged brain fog, My bad 🙂
