Keeping it Real

Making Space – An Advent Devotional

Lists. That’s how I usually begin my holiday prep.

Guest lists. Recipe lists. Gift lists. Shopping lists that include embarrassing amounts of butter and sugar for the baking that will soon commence.

But sometimes those lists and all the frenzy and activity can crowd out Christ. A few years ago, God impressed on my heart that while lists are great, it’s far more important that I listen.

That I listen to His voice in the Word. That I listen to His voice in prayer. That I listen to His voice in the stillness.

Out of that conviction was birthed my first ever Bible plan: Making Space, a 25-day devotional on YouVersion/ The Bible App.

This Advent, I’d like to invite you to join me as we clear the clutter and make room for Christ.

Making Space can be a good starting point to help you find moments to be with the One who came to be with you.

If you’re not an app person, I have a downloadable version here that you can refer to on your device over the next few weeks.

I won’t lie —  this is a 25-day plan which means it means being fairly consistent with getting into the Word. But I do believe that from that consistent obedience comes sweet intimacy with God. And that’s something you can carry with you this season — and always.

I hope you join me as we walk through this glorious in-between of Advent — when we look back and marvel that God became man and when we look forward to His glorious return as the King of Kings.

Here’s wishing you a meaningful, uncluttered Advent where we can make space to know Christ as our Immanuel.

Advent 2021 begins on Sunday, November 28th.
