Keeping it Real

Mama Mama, Valentine Drama (inspired by the Llama Llama series ;))
There’s love in the air – or so it’s been said,
But for mommies out there, hearts fill with dread.
Get on Pinterest for the perfect Valentine pun,
Need a nap, but have to make a candy run.
This year we’ll make our very own cards,
On occasion, mommies too can be bards.
Our cards will say: “There’s no one Elsa like you,”
But, good sense prevails – Target to the rescue!
Head to Walmart for the best Valentine deals,
Make heart-shaped pancakes for family meals.
Volunteer myself for two crazy class parties,
Make teachers batches of Ghirardelli brownies.
Candy negotiations ensue that night,
When did Valentine’s turn into a fight?
Gone are the days of date nights and roses,
Exchanged for sticky hands and runny noses.
But I can’t complain one tiny bit –
Because with cupid’s arrow I’ve been hit!
“I love your hugs, kisses and cooking,” writes the boy,
Making this mommy’s heart jump for joy!
The girl gives me a keychain with her thumbprint,
Way, way better than any fancy box of Lindt.
She declares she loves me more than lollipops,
Just for that I’d say – Valentine’s Day is tops.
